Urgent bicycle repairs remain possible

The Fietsersbond/GRACQ and TRAXIO are pleased to report that - in these exceptional times - urgent bicycle repairs are possible. Over the past few days there has been considerable uncertainty as to whether bicycle dealers were allowed to carry out urgent bicycle repairs.

The bicycle is an important means of transport for many people who today guarantee, among other things, our health care, food supply, economy and deliveries. They can therefore call on official bicycle dealers and repairers for their urgent bicycle repairs and thus continue to fulfil their socially important task. (*)

As with all activities, social distancing must be strictly respected, as must the hygiene measures imposed by the Belgian government.

The Fietsersbond/GRACQ and TRAXIO would like to thank the Cabinet and the Minister of Economic Affairs, Nathalie Muylle, as well as the FPS Economy, for making this explicit.

(*) for an official overview of necessary activities: see the list of activities included in the Ministerial Decree of 18 March 2020). As a precaution, bicycle repairers may choose to close down their workshop completely. Consequently, they cannot be obliged to carry out repairs, unless they are required to do so by the authorities in absolute emergency situations.
